Phonics
Read Write Inc is the phonics program your child will be working with. This program was designed by Ruth Miskin and is a phonics program which helps all children learn to read fluently and at speed, so they can focus on developing their skills in comprehension, vocabulary and spelling. During your child`s first year they will learn to read the key sounds and will begin sounding out and blending these sounds in order to read words within short texts. They will also begin recording these sounds to record words within their writing. For more information about phonics at St Catherine`s please see the attached phonics leaflet.
